Meditation is not a battle, it is the simplest thing to do. All you have to do is just observe your thoughts during waking hours and be the observer. A non judgmental observer. Just watch your breath in and out and don't attach to any thoughts that pass through you. If you can try reading "The Untethered Soul : The Journey beyond Yourself"

Slowing down the pace of my busy mind in my stressful life lately has been extremely hard, almost impossible. 2 years ago and for over a year my life was itself a sort of meditation. It was a time when I was so at peace, in touch with everything, centered, happy for no reason at all. But now and after going through so much changes, challenges and sadness, I am finding any kind of "observation" hard. The thing is, I know exactly what you are talking about, and I have done it time and time again. But grasping it is one thing, and being able to do it - or allow it to happen- is a totally different story.
But thank you so much for your comment, I will get the book and give it a read. I have been waiting for a sort of immediate motivation/inspiration, and perhaps this one would do.
