I remember I did it with a group of people in 3D Virtual Reality on the computer, which stood in her children's shoes during that time. (beginning of the nineties)
We shared our fantasies in 3D virtual mazes.
My first game was called "The Mountain Adventure". I made a journey inside a mountain where everything was dark. I started with only one match. I had to find many objects to take me through and ultimately the door to the exit and the key belonging to it.
This game really was the beginning of my spiritual journey, my Self Designed Adventure.
It almost naturally brought me from mazes to labyrinths and the consciousness that belongs to this :)
Nowadays possibilities have so much improved. Real worlds can be re-created almost perfectly in Virtual these days. And the funny thing is that what can be created virtual can become real and the other way around :)
Many software packages available from very expensive to very affordable.
Alice in Wonderland is again very popular with young children.
Alice.org is a sub-faculty of the Carnegie Mellon University, where students in the third grade have developed a wonderful 3D Virtual Reality Animation program that can be used for free by ANY student of ANY age.
A beautiful inheritance from a beautiful soul: Randy Pausch
"I guess when I think of consciousness as a game - it means a game that can demonstrate the power of consciousness, and therefore - inspire higher levels of consciousness in others." ~Escape
"doesn't such an elaborate game (a 3d virtual experience) impose the creators' experience of consciousness on others, instead of inspiring one to expand their own? "
No, no one can ever impose one's experience on someone else because everybody has the unique ability of interpretion. Just like you believe the imposing of the creator, someone else will be inspired and create his/her own imaginative virtual experience from it.
That is the wonder of the human mind, the endless possibilities of interpreting. That is why the first programming language was an interpreting language, whose basic understanding went no further than:
If,
Then,
Else
And the most simple but beautiful games arose from them.
You can start with a 3D virtual Garden of Eden place, a sort of LifeGarden that guides you through the different gardens in your life in which you are the Keeper and have to take care that the different seeds you sow do indeed flourish.
I have walked in such Lifegardens in Nature where they tell the story of life from birth till death and beyond.
That boosted my consciousness several levels higher.
To give you an idea what I mean, here is the link:
an empty space is a void of grace
where the embryo is conceived
in a loving place, like a garden, to embrace
where the seed can grow in a place of peace
where the flowers burst open in a continuous stream of joy
while the sun warms them all in its light which they enjoy
in an embrace of hope that they may flourish the best
and can lay their head down at the end of the day, to rest
Also the Wii system has them and they are very popular among young and old in my country.
Microsoft is developing them on the X-box with a program called Visual Steps
What may be an innovating idea is to develop them in a simple way on a cell-phone.
But then first raise your consciousness on the USE of cell phones via the link given hereabove.
Deepak once made a Wild Divine series with Bio-feedback
I know there already exist computers and add-ons that can connect someone with a certain part of the brain and you will have neuro-feedback. I once read an article on this. You are in a way able to paint images with your brain activity on screen.
Lol, this may become the new hype of the 21st century :)
consciousness= an empty space
consciousness= a loving place
consciousness= a place of peace
consciousness=a continuous stream of joy
consciousness=an abundance of light(s)
consciousness=an embrace of hope
Dr. Chopras' "Cosciousness game"
I take the position that this is a posibility where the game , the gamer and the object of the game are one the the same. It can start with even the existing technology as fun and primitive as it is.
It does not take a genius to tweek an existing system and make it a game that works.

A 'consciousness game' makes me think of the "Choose Your Own Adventure" book series. Those were my favorite books when I was a child. And as a lover of math, I think about game theory -- pigeon holes, compounded probabilities, chance... How do you think CHANCE plays into the consciousness game?
doesn't such an elaborate game (a 3d virtual experience) impose the creators' experience of consciousness on others, instead of inspiring one to expand their own? consciousness is limitless. putting the game in any one format or medium inherently puts constraints on the number of potential experiences.
i should think that the idea here is to come up with a very fundamental, NON-local idea of how to get people exploring the idea of consciousness - a game that can be played WITHIN one's own consciousness; a game that transcends time and space and requires only instruction / suggestion; something both our ancient ancestors and our great-grandchildren could play.
then, we have an idea that can be realized in any form you choose, and the different mediums / experiences you give people will give them access to the fundamental concepts along different paths. some people will have an easier time "getting it" through a video game, but, not everyone. it depends on their experiences / perceptions / comfort level with video games. just like some people are better visual learners, some better with text, etc -- everyone will have a different 'path of least resistance' to the realization or outcome intended by the game. if the quest is simple and clear, it will be accessible to all through any path they take; just as consciousness is.
lowest common denominator, stuff.
like, meditation. if looking inward through meditation is the best way to access consciousness, then shouldn't the game invoke some sort of basic meditative practice?
Hello Deepak. I am a video game designer. What kind of game do you want to make? A game to illustrate how consciousness works? A game to model consciousness? It seems a broad topic, with many interpretations.
I guess when I think of consciousness as a game - it means a game that can demonstrate the power of consciousness, and therefore - inspire higher levels of consciousness in others. No short order Deepak! I have always dreamed of such a game, but never known how to begin. Truly a marvelous and worthy challenge. Perhaps the first thing to do is create a Wiki or forum where people can suggest their concepts for the game. You may need to guide us in what kind of format you want to deliver it in - video games, board games, card games(?)... But I would think video games are the most appropriate and accessible in today's society. Almost certainly it would benefit from a multi - player aspect - one that encourages co-operation to solve challenges, and illustrates how to transcend problems through consciousness..
The trouble with that is - you need a common medium to share. You can't play soccer with one another in your mind, or in your meditations. The reason I advocate video games is because they are one of the most advanced and malleable mediums available to us today. Video games are very much played within your own consciousness - they relate to you, and you relate to them. But in order to play a game, you need to be able to share that common ground. Like a soccer field. Everyone is on the same level, with common rules. Everyone knows what to do - but what happens within the game dynamic is up to everyones own mind and consciousness. Transcending time and space essentially rules out most ordinary people.
However I think you are right in that that is what the game should aim to make people do, within their own minds. Seeing a scenario played out on screen for example - and returning a positive result - such as preventing a war, or helping another find a solution to his/her problem can then be related back to the individual - delivering them an "aha" moment, after experiencing first hand the result from playing the game.
Moreover I think the game should demonstrate examples of different levels of consciousness - from humble beginnings of say hunter gatherers who need to find food, to highly evolved sages and yogis who learn to access new realms of consciousness. (way beyond my comprehension, but my imagination takes me there).
You could even encourage "leveling" (a popular video game mechanic) by attaining higher levels of consciousness that unlock greater and greater abilities and allow access to higher methods of problem solving.
Just spit balling here - Deepak tell us if we are on the right track?
The other option is to have some kind of meta game, that utilizes social networking, co-operation, and maybe your own problem solving through meditations - however I can quickly see this turning into a designer's nightmare!
If each time we perform an act of kindness towards someone, the person who received the benefit of the kind act then sends on a "karma point" to the person who performed the good deed. Now if the second person goes on to perform a good deed to another person as a direct result of appreciation from the first good deed, and that new person also forwards a karma point on to the last person, another say, half or quarter point is then forwarded to the original good deed doer. So effectively the first person receives one point for the person he helped directly, and a quarter point for each person he helps indirectly. So the game becomes one of helping others, in return for karma points..
It could utilize social networks of any kind.

Deepak,
I am a big follower of yours and you have motivated me in many ways over the past couple of years. This particular tweet really spoke to me today while I was in school. After reading your tweet, I suddenly had the idea to create my own game based around creativity and positive thoughts. I have a strong feeling this is going to help me conquer negative thoughts and stay on the right path. Hopefully it will help myself & others! Thank you for sparking the inspiration!

Addiction is a problem no matter what people get addicted to. From drugs and drinks to games addiction is a huge problem. Talking about addicting games, there are people who spent a large portion of their daily lives in computer games. Such people play games from hours and hours to an entire day forgetting about any other activity of their daily lives. Due to addiction to games, people miss out on their normal things like school, homework/assignments, studies, real life play time and even lose their social lives. They might not even have a real life and become lifeless, living only in the world of games. All these are some of the negative impacts which are caused by addiction to games.

Here's another idea;
What if we had an App that tracked good deeds? This article you linked to the other day got me thinking..
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/03/100308151049.htm
If each time we perform an act of kindness towards someone, the person who received the benefit of the kind act then sends on a "karma point" to the person who performed the good deed.
