Yes, the nurturing of a mother cannot be replaced by any caregiver in the world. It is very good we have them, but the special function a mother fulfills can never be replaced:
Let's ponder for a moment about the many professions a mother fulfills:
A mother is a life giver
A mother is a special lover
A mother is a teacher
A mother is a nurse
A mother is a doctor
A mother is a manager
A mother is a listener
A mother is an observer
A mother is a psychologist
A mother is a trustworthy employee
She serves in almost every profession
So she should be rewarded with a salary that comprises all those professions!
And then it turns out that she is a financial expert also :)
Well said Deepak, the future of humanity does depend on our mothers.
I'm currently helping to coordinate a global movement right now called To Mama With Love (www.ToM...) where people can honor their mothers (or any woman who played a critical part in forming them) and turn this shared love for our mothers into a powerful force that can change the world.
A recent post by the LA Times reported that almost $15B is spent annually on Mother's Day gifts - what if we could take that and truly honor our mother's in a way that shows them how important they are to us both individually and collectively, and focus our energy and resources not on frivolous and temporary gestures of kindness (like flowers and chocolates), but instead on long-term, substantial impact.
This year, we're directing our love for our mothers to help Mama Lucy, an amazing Tanzanian woman, to build a children's home in her village so that every child that attends her primary school has a loving place to call home.
I urge you to see the heartfelt messages, images and video that people are creating in honor of their mothers this year and follow the stream on twitter (#tomamawithlove). Here's the heartspace I created for my own incredible mother Savita, maybe you'll make one too. :)
