Have you read a New Earth by Eckhart Tolle? I was reading it last night and he was talking about how being Present is the best thing you can do for a child.

As I parent of a soon-to-be 19 year old and a 16 year old, I believe that being a conscious parent has been my greatest channel of growth and the greatest accomplishment of my life. By the way, I second jackieblue's recommendation of a New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. Another book that tremendously blessed my path of being a conscious parent is the Parent's Tao Te Ching by William Martin. It has been on my nightstand for 10 years and I've savored the mini meditations & the spot-on wisdom many times over.
