We intend to give $1 for every support this intent receives, to a worthy cause.
WHY? This time of year is one of gratitude, reflection, and planting the seeds for new intentions or re-affirming our intentions in the new year. To express our gratitude, we wanted to try something new on www.int.... For every support of this Intent, we will donate $1 (up to $1000) to a charity that is recommended by one of you.
HOW TO HELP: Please support this intent, and in the comments, tell us of an organization that could benefit from our donation. The more comments and stories you share with us, the more all of us can learn about the great work being done by individuals and organizations around the world.
We will seriously consider all your referrals before making the donation. We’d love to also interview the person who made the recommendation that ultimately is chosen.
Please share the intent with your communities to garner more support (and money) for the campaign and ask people to support your recommendation or give us their own favorite charities.
INSPIRATION: 2012 was a big year for Intent. We relaunched Intent.com and Intentb..., grew our Intent community, added many new Intent Voices as bloggers, and grew significantly in our reach. We’d like to thank all of you – our community and supporters – for making it such a great year.

Autism Speaks does wonderful work in reaching families of autistic children. I have a daughter and two grandchildren who fall on the autism spectrum, and in the first many months of receiving the diagnosis for my grandson, I learned so much from Autism Speaks. The struggles of my grandbabies have inspired me to undertake a hike beginning in June 2013 from my home in Wisconsin to Washington, D.C. to meet with legislators in the hope of authoring and ultimately passing legislation that will help autistic children in the educational arena.

Please consider supporting the Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund . It was started just days after the hurricane by NJ First Lady Mary Pat Christie, and, long before federal assistance to the disaster areas arrived, this fund was already providing much needed assistance to those in need.
Hurricane Sandy came ashore here in NJ six weeks ago and I personally have seen many neighborhoods that look as if the storm happened yesterday. Long after the news crews leave and the attention of the world turns elsewhere, the families of the Jersey Shore will continue with the long journey towards putting their homes, their lives and communities back together again. The generous donations of others not only provides assistance for the many who are still without homes, but also the many volunteers who are helping them.
Regardless of which cause you choose, thank you Intent.com, for your heartfelt expression of generosity!!!

Please support the Half the Sky Movement @ http://...
"The Half the Sky Movement is cutting across platforms to ignite the change needed to put an end to the oppression of women and girls worldwide, the defining issue of our time. Inspired by journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn's book of the same name, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide brings together video, websites, games, blogs and other educational tools to not only raise awareness of women's issues, but to also provide concrete steps to fight these problems and empower women. Change is possible, and you can be part of the solution."
I was so touched and also angered by watching the Half the Sky documentary. It pains me deeply to see innocent children and women being raped, genitally mutilated and sold into sexual slavery even at the tender age of 3 years old. India is one of the most terrible and terrifying places on earth to be a prostitute. It is an intergenerational cycle that needs to be broken. So many need help and support. So many brave souls are already taking a stand and dedicating and risking their lives to saves others.
Many thanks and bless you always. Thank you for caring and giving.

I have been working for the last two years directly with Chetana Women Skill Development Program in Pokhara, Nepal. I quit my job to open my own business with their beautiful products because I wanted to actively participate in being the change I want to see in this World. By Western standards it would appear that these women still live in abject poverty but that is not the case, in Nepal, people manage to get by without electricity, without heat or insulation in their homes, without access to clean water, without access to clean toilets, without access to the very basics that we here in the West take for granted and I am of course talking about the most grassroots basics. There are no government funds available, there are no concerts to raise funds for those in need, there are no food drives but there is a beautiful woman, Tara Timilshina who started this project in her home in 2008. Tara and her husband Khim came to Pokhara from one of the outlying villages 25 years ago, no shoes, no jackets, not even a pot to cook in. They quickly found jobs, Tara, house cleaning and cooking and Khim cleaning up after the cows. Still not able to make any money and only getting paid with food and a room Tara decided to take matters into her own hands which first started as a small tea shop which grew into a tea/trekingshop with her husband as the guide. Tara fell ill and the diagnosis was not good but she somehow recovered and vowed to change her life by empowering the poor women in her community thus Chetana Women Skill Development was born...Chetana means opening the mind through Education. Tara has had absolutely no formal eduction whatsoever. her spoken English is impeccable and her written english is getting better all the time. Please do visit their website and please contact me should you have any further information requirements and I will connect you directly to a beautiful Australian friend who is now taking care of the administration/online orders voluntarily for Tara. I will be traveling to Pokhara on January 8th to work again as I did last year side by side with these gorgeous ladies for two months...What an honor, I am so proud and would be honored that you consider them and the affect this has on the entire community...connecting the World...one bag at a time xo! ps...come with me ;-)

just-one
A small, low-profile, low-budget, grass-roots organisation with a strong conviction that education has the potential to provide a viable route out of the poverty trap that so many in our world find themselves ensnared in through no fault of their own.
Operating since 2004 on the simple philosophy that it doesn't take much too make a difference, just-one currently works with a growing number of children and their respective families to help them towards a sustainable level of independence.
just-one strives to actively promote and facilitate educational opportunities for disadvantaged and marginalized children in Nepal by working at a grass-roots level with the children, their families and their communities to implement a range of carefully developed, culturally sensitive, sustainable initiatives. Run by My beautiful friend Declan Murphy in Kathmandu. When I met Declan Murphy in 2004 he was over $20,000.00 in debt with no job rescuing street children in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal. Still a grassroots organization with much, much, much love and perseverance just-one is starting to get the recognition it so rightly deserves.

One more ;-) I met Devica Gurung for the first time teaching one of her first Yoga classes in Pokhara, Nepal/ 1997. She was so quiet that we could barely understand what she was saying and she never looked at us. Devica embodies all things spiritual, a class with Devica will change you, she has a presence, a rare beauty you feel right away...Devica;s organization is Nepali Yoga Women Trust supports women who want to
break out of the role that society dictates. These women are hungry to learn and strive for independence. They are strong women who are setting a great example that has the potential to change the way women are viewed and treated in the entire nation. “The harsh social conditions many Nepali women face do not define them. In life we move forward through positive thinking. It is only then we are able to make a change,” states Devika.
he project provides opportunities for local women to discover and develop ways to improve their socio-economic situation. The women learn holistic therapies, self-healing techniques and handicraft skills. These activities provide them with a step towards inner-transformation and self-confidence.
Over time, the women become self-sufficient and less reliant on others. A regular income offers them economic independence. This allows the women to participate in family decisions and allocate money for personal needs and their children's education.

Thank you, this sounds great to share this idea. Ive created a fb page titled You Transforming You, yet the name is flexible. What if we band together to start a movement such as Earth one heart of inner awareness which invites each person on earth to empower/ awaken/ enlighten / transform within. To pledge and committ to discovering all their infinite potential. If joy and serenity are from the inside , out then what can each person do to uncover more of that. I became involved in the inner discover "journey" after adversity had happened. This movement is about empowerment before any adversity to realize and recognize safe serene harm free mutuality and have it. This is important because of such cases as Nicole Brown Simpson and recently Kassandra Perkins, in the hope for eliminating any involvement with that which is not safe. Transforming You is about the internal discovery learning, in addition to the external education because even educated people have fallen prey. For each person who committs to minimum of one live training event written with their name on it , a donation of $1 will be given for the movement. This donation then is paid forward for any one who wishes to attend an international training event and does not have the funding. The 1000 donation is a beautiful gesture and what if that could be expanded on to invite the many enlightening and transforming events by all transformational leaders . Perhaps one could write to each training company and ask for further donations . This would also be a friendly fb page for people to see who is going to what events and even write their aim and gain for wishing to attend. Perhaps even friends may come together before certain events from all over the world. This idea is open to further insights. Thanks once again for this generous intent which allows ideas such as this to come forth for reality to make it happen if it is chosen.

I was born just after World War 2 in the Netherlands and have experienced life in all its aspects, from poverty in the first 12 years of my existence to having been enabled to study, so I could find a decent job, getting married, having raised my own two children and now having been gifted with 5 grandchildren, all in good health and wealth.
I have travelled through the whole Pyramid of Maslow and am grateful for this.
Therefore, to me: "Love" : truly means a L-ist o-f v-irtually e-verything, because virtually every one, from family to government have contributed to this evolution.
I would wish this for every child in the world to happen.
After practicing Yoga and meditation for already so long in my country, which originated in and was adopted here from India, I now have dedicated myself to an organization in India who practices the same principles. I have great admiration for their spiritual leader and teacher Munesh Sinha, who's doing such a great job in accompanying many children who are in more or less the same circumstances as I was in my youth. I truly hope his organization will grow together with the healthcare and government in his country towards creating the same circumstances as I have received in my country.
For this I will try to not only support him financially, but with all my experience as a mother, grandmother and creative digital artist.
Take a look at his organization here: http://...
Thank you Munesh and the Universe for my expansion into this beautiful direction :)

I have been a member of the Open Thread on the old intentblog dot com. I remember the great discussions we had and how much we were able to learn from one another. It will always be a great memory as I have gathered more than one in the meantime :)
I've struggled in the past donating as an individual to a cause I wanted. So just sent money by snailmail. Luckily it did arrive but now, lately did the same to Munesh Sinha's address and it did not arrive. So all I can say is that if someone opened an envelope that was not meant for that person, i made someone happy with the contents of it. But if he/she has a conscience he/she will send it to the rightful owner....
Am happy though that donate possibilities have improved and am now able to donate to Munesh Sinha through Paypal.
If you want to do the same go to this page on his website:

You will find his Paypal ID on this page. In paypal fill in this ID and fill the dot: Service

I am writing to ask for support for Better BedRest Inc. We support moms nationally on bedrest due to high risk pregnancy. This is an invisible crisis, as we see healthy pregnant moms walking around everyday. Moms on bedrest are in bed at home or at the hospital or both in the course of their pregnancies. They immediately are thrown into a financial crisis and their lives stop dead in their tracks. Better Bedrest is a helpline that speaks to these women weekly until they deliver. If they qualify we offer a one time emergency grant to help pay a bill up to $500. Women are being evicted and getting cars repossessed. I spoke to a mom tonight. She is behind 2 months in her car payment and not sure how next month's rent will be paid. She cannot even begin to think about getting excited about the holiday season. Our intent is to help and support as many moms on pregnancy bedrest as we can. We are celebrating our 20th year and hope to go 20 more. Thanks for supporting our intent and being considered for this very generous donation. Joanie Reisfeld, Founder Better BedRest.

I work with a dog rescue group called Homeward Bound Dog Rescue of New York. From their website, "We rescue dogs that have been turned over to shelters, surrendered to us through our surrender program and rescued from puppy mills. Homeward Bound dogs live in a foster home until they are ready to move into your home. They eat, sleep and live with us and that way we have a better understanding of who they are. This foster arrangement allows the dogs to learn to live in a home, which gives us the opportunity to match families up with our dogs so a home really is forever!" http://...

Your help is requestd for The 7 Soul Seeds of Hope…Honoring Women in Shelters Campaign. This campaign was co-created by The Soul of a Woman Foundation, Inc. (501c3) and Love Empowerment Team (LET). Our goal is to distribute a women’s empowerment book, called 7 Soul Seeds, to women’s transitional facilities and groups. 7 Soul Seeds has a holistic focus with the intent to inspire and empower women from all walks of life to take charge of their own wellbeing in the areas of wellness; self-awareness; self-love; exercise; nutrition; wealth consciousness; self-motivation; entrepreneurship; and, creative expression. In addition to receiving the books, a portion of the book royalties will be donated to each participating shelter.
The campaign is intended for women who are seeking ways to take charge; transform; and re-invent their lives. Many of these women are currently being assisted by shelters due to domestic violence; financial crises; or addictions. Many are single mothers. There are women’s transitional facilities that have activities and workshops that are in alignment with the 7 areas addressed by the book which are: self-awareness; self-love; wealth consciousness; vibrant food; effective exercise; sacred space; and, creativity. However, since some shelters have more funding than others, thus less (or no) transformational programs, it is our hope that the 7 Soul Seeds book and the financial donations made possible from the book royalties, will help fill in some of the gaps. A year and a half ago my daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. This is not common in our family and we were certainly not prepared for this diagnosis financially or emotionally. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society provided strong emotional and financial support for my daughter. They helped with her hospital bills, she had no insurance, and they helped her obtain the monthly oral chemotherapy medicine that would keep her alive hopefully sending her into a remission. That medication costs a little over $10,000.00 monthly and this amount does not include the cost of anti-nausea medication which is necessary with these prescriptions. I am sure my daughter is not the only person who has received help from this very worthy organization. Please help them so that they may continue to help others.

The mission of the organization's founder, Ms. Taunya Laya-Rivera Master's of Science Degree in Education with over 20 years of experience in the fields of education and social work.
She offers of herself to all people, from all walks of life, and offers opportunities for people who may not have the economic means to attend a pricey yoga/meditation/vibrational session. She offers them locally to those who may benefit many times for free (or a donation of the participant's choice).
She also offers vibrational "retreats" in the Caribbean, where the natural surroundings along with the itinerary of Qi Gong, meditation, learning to control the breath, and teaching how to play the singing bowl transforms the spirit...
I have benefited tremendously from My Second Breath, after being a participant in a tragedy, it is now understandable to me how important to have peace & clarity of the mind, so the way to move forward become clear. "Dobra Wioska" (The Good Village) is a symbol of space, where people live in harmony with nature and each person, irrelevant of his age or views, feels accepted and needed. We believe that it is possible to make this symbol real within the dimensions of contemporary temporal space. Each person participates in the creation of the world through his own inner life and in the act of creation s/he draws on nature and the web of his/her interpersonal relationships. In this way s/he surpasses him/herself.
The aim of the Foundation "Dobra Wioska" is to inspire and support the development of a person’s personality, the conscious shaping of interpersonal contacts and the relationship of human beings with nature. These goals will be achieved through activities on the border line of psychology, ecology and art. The Foundation creates and coordinates projects within the field of art therapy, dolphin therapy, artistic events, and multicultural dialogue.

There have been many wonderful organisations mentioned above and all would be great choices. I love Room to Read because they put every cent toward enabling literacy in the mother tongue of the people where they are setting up. The program works with the people to create schools, has a scholarship plan for young girls/women and offers English books too. The fundraising travel is done with donated frequent flyer miles and the 'hotels' are normally done via invitations to stay with friends. As research shows, fighting illness, poverty, violence is most effectively done via boosting literacy and helping women - This organisation does both. http://...
PS: I have 'adopted' this intent, will the supports received there count as well?
PSS: If the donation is done today (Dec. 31) there is another organisation that will match the donation given.
Thanks for considering this group and for thinking to do such an awesome gift - your thoughtfulness changes the world:)
