 Gift of Time

Time is what we spend between our physical birth and physical death.  The time we have spent between our birth and death is what we call our life; contains our personal history of who we were, how we lived, who we knew and what we did with our lives. Our time/life is filled with memories of love, joy, laughter, pain, sorrow, anger, forgiveness, emotions - some internalized, some expressed, and some exploded. Time is a gift, though we rarely stop and acknowledge it as such. With every day time is equally allotted to everyone - 24 hours, and what we do with that time is totally up to us. We can spend our time wisely, or worthlessly, we can squander it, or invest it, we can enjoy it, or abuse it. How, where, why, whom we spend our time determines the quality of our life.

There are many ways of looking at the concept of time - clock time based on the tick of the clock; biological time based on body's clock following rhythms of nature; psychological time  based on how we use our mind in the present and timelessness  based on timeless awareness. Almost all of us use clock time, biological time and psychological time. We use clock time for appointments, meeting deadlines, birthdays, anniversaries etc... We use biological time for sleeping, eating, giving birth etc... We use psychological time when we are dwelling on the past in the present, anticipating the future in the present, how we react or respond to the present.

As you can see all these concepts of time are valuable for different purposes. However, when we don't follow it, we can hurt ourselves or our relationships. For example when we don't follow biological rhythms and abuse our body we can disrupt health and get sick; when we forget birthdays or anniversary's of our loved ones we miss an opportunity to show our love in action; when we don't fully process an emotional situation as it occurs in the present, we accumulate emotional toxicity.

Apart from clock time, biological time, psychological time, what many of us either don't know or don't practice is timelessness. When we connect to our true essence in the present moment, we can slip into this timeless state. When we shift our attention to our presence, we can slip beyond the mind and time to this timeless state. You can do this even as you read this message - shift your attention and see who is reading this message you will connect with your timeless presence. Practice of meditation & mindfulness are tools to slip into timeless awareness.

When we are in the timeless state we are in tune with our body, feelings, mind and be one with the universe. Dr Deepak Chopra in his teachings says that when we are in this timeless state and in sync with the universe, we can be healthy, attract people, events, situations in our life to fulfill our dreams and desires effortlessly.
